Awning or Hopper windows, ie. gas strut, are becoming the popular window of choice. They push or wind out effortlessly from the bottom and when open, they give ventilation with a measure of rain protection. Awning windows are hinged along the top and open from the bottom and awning sashes give the best results in sound reduction.
As with casement windows, awnings can be utilised in most positions, but are not always suitable for decks or walkways due to their projecting nature. Fly screens can be fitted internally.
