FAQ - Windows and Doors
What timbers are available?
We stock five timbers: Surian, New Guinea Rosewood, Amoora, Silky Oak or Western Cedar. You can request a particular type timber providing it is obtainable, durable and suitable. All timber is uniquely different and varies in appearance colour, grain, texture and price.
Do you use Australian Timbers?
Jarrah and Spotted Gum can be used depending on availability at the time of order.
Do you do aluminium windows?
No. Timber is a renewable resource and therefore sustainable. It does not require the mining of our limited precious minerals or the huge energy that is needed, to produce some of the other materials on the market today.
Where does the timber come from?
We use timber that has been sourced from managed and sustainable forests in New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia and South America. The material for any timber product we make, is thoughtfully selected, and nurtured, to protect the wellbeing and future of our natural environment. The manufacturing process for producing our timber windows and doors is gentle on the environment. It does not require the mining of our limited precious minerals or the huge energy that is needed, to produce some of the other man-made materials on the market today.

Are windows & doors made in Queensland to Australian standards?
Yes. Duce timber windows and doors are Australian made to Australian standards. Our windows and doors are all certified to the Australian Glazing Standard AS1288 for your safety. It is our policy to certify all windows and doors to suit the water penetration resistance and structural requirements of Australian Standard AS2047. This is not always possible with unusual architectural designs. Products that have passed strict NATA testing requirements prove our high quality construction methods and weather sealing systems effectively exclude wind and rain. We also fit performance labels to your joinery to show that it has been designed to suit the conditions in your location.
How do we decide which glass to select and are windows energy efficient?
The size, orientation, glazing treatment and internal coverings of your windows all have a significant impact on the energy efficiency and comfort of your home. For a typically insulated house, the windows provide the greatest opportunity for heat gain or loss, and can account for up to 40% of energy losses. Choosing energy efficient windows is a simple way of improving the comfort of your home, while at the same time saving real money on your energy bill, reducing the green house gas emissions needed to provide that energy, and improving the re-sale value of your home. Can we have screens fitted to our windows & doors?

We can apply the first coat of finish in the factory to minimise and reduce the chances of staining and markings during transit or construction. You must then apply extra coats to protect and maintain your products. We use and recommend Sikkens wood finish systems & Orica Woodcare products.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not paint solid timber exterior doors with dark colours, as direct sunlight will cause severe damage to the timber underneath and twisting of the joinery.
